Financial Times is reporting about Apple’s desire to release a Tablet version of the iPod Touch by Christmas. Not sure how Apple will succeed where so many had failed but I would not bet against them. Apple always had great marketing sense to create demand where there seems to be none. No official hardware specs have been released so rumors of this being wi-fi only to Verizon’s next big thing is all good at this point. One rumor, if true, about the software based on the iPhone/iPod Touch OS would be a great move by Apple. With all the developer support and the 10,000+ apps, the tablet would hit the market running. Thank goodness Amazon has a Kindle app on the iPhone as I see this device destroying the ebook devices currently out there. I wonder how Microsoft feels as they are always first to market with such concepts but lack the coolness and seamless integration to pull it off. Any way, here is a snippet from FT:
The talks come as Apple is separately racing to offer a portable, full-featured, tablet-sized computer in time for the Christmas shopping season, in what the entertainment industry hopes will be a new revolution. The device could be launched alongside the new content deals, including those aimed at stimulating sales of CD-length music, according to people briefed on the project.
