Movie: Orange is the New Black – Season 1 (a binge-watched Netflix series)
Director: Jenji Kohan
One Crazy-long Sentence Summary: A comedy-drama centered on a engaged-to-be-married to a second guessing man middle-aged woman Piper Chapman that is serving a year or so long prison sentence for trafficking drugs during her younger years for her lesbian lover who is also in the same facility where each woman has a story of consequence and are bonded together by circumstance, race, and flesh that is played out in steamy sexual situations, cafeteria-centered power, and the blurry line between prisoners and guards that help expand Piper’s reality to a world she never knew existed and is trying desperately to find her role which in turn helps her discover the person she really is.
Three Words/Phrases: Funny, twisted, ‘did she really put her hand down there?’
Personal Note: The prison life in this series is the exact opposite of the movies: American Me, Shawshank Redemption or even The Green Mile. In other words, it seems pleasant.
