The sun slowly brightens the darken runway as passengers slowly filter in. The warm blanket of silence is pulled as chatter of small talk sends ripples throughout the once dormant terminal. It is still two hours before my next flight and though the day is starting for many, I am the few that expects the day to end. My only companion on this lonely trip is my new best friend. A device with a shiny glass surface that screams with potential but brightens my face with a warm expression of “now what?” continue reading…

So in prep for my iPad arriving next week, I decided to look for apps to support my workflow. I know many have tried to only survive with an iPad as the only computer for work but that is just silly.  My MacBook can take care of all my power needs.  Well almost, I have a Core i7 at home for gaming, I mean come on, gaming is in my blood.

The point of the iPad is to treat it like a composition book that can export.  The device is similar to my netbook, except I can lay it flat and hopefully take notes like I love to do on my notepad (yeah, I still handwrite notes in meeting and then enter them into Google Docs. The reason why tablets sucked in the past was the fact that they were old dogs with cheap new tricks.  UI, software and hardware that did not work as a unified experience prevented mainstream folks to grasp the need for such distinctive products.  What made it worse were hybrid products like the one to the left that confused the public and gave a false sense of security with a keyboard and touchpad to keep the mindset deeply rooted into a laptop mentality, far from what a tablet is trying to achieve.  Sadly I wish the product to the left was from the past but unfortunately it is an upcoming release from Panasonic.  It is just another reminder that PC vendors still do not get it.  Thank goodness for Apple and Microsoft.
